Figure 3-Rural Practicing FP/GP per 100,000 Population (Excludes resident physicians and physicians in academic and administrative positions)

This line graph depicts the number of FP/GP physicians that are and may practice in rural areas from 1997 to 2020 based on three variables. These variables include: 3,981 physicians per year, an increase of 200 physicians per year for 5 years, or a decrease 200 physicians per year for 5 years. In 2020, by these standards, if there are 3,981 physicians each year, there will be a steady rise of 36 to 37 physicians per 100,000. With an increase of 200 physicians per year over 5 years, in 2020 there will be approximately 43 to 44 physicians per 100,000. With a decrease of 200 physicians per year over 5 years, in 2020 there will be approximately 31 to 22 physicians per 100,000.
