Figure 3-Life Expectancy at Birth in Selected OECD Countries, 1987

This bar graphs shows the United States as ranking in the bottom half among OECD countries, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom, in terms of male and female life expectancy at birth. The OECD average for males is 72.1 and 78.6 for females. In the U.S., the average is 71.4 for males and 78.4 for females. The U.S. had the lowest average for males and the second lowest average for females among these countries.
